Yen’s postgraduate research started with her fascination with quiet spaces she spotted while zoning out or having noisy internal dialogues. The brief attention given to the spaces and the accompanying quietude could somehow tap into the human unconscious and shift the focus completely, making it easier to ground and contemplate at a slower pace. She is studying how internal and external moods affect paintings and how colors can convey the emotion of a moment in a space.
